Dramaten: “Without All Ears, you miss an incredible amount”

Lena Törner, Head of Press at The Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten), explains how All Ears has become key to understanding the modern media landscape.
Since 1788, Dramaten has been a leading institution in Swedish performing arts. Despite its long cultural heritage, the theater continues to stay relevant in new ways—from launching its own podcast, Dramatenpodden, to hosting the globally streamed digital festival Lessingtage earlier this year.
Monitoring everything said in spoken media
Staying relevant is also central to Dramaten’s press work. Since 2019, the theater has used All Ears to monitor everything being said about Dramaten in spoken media.
Lena Törner explains how this has both simplified and improved an otherwise demanding task.
“Before, I had to chase down information and manually search for everything that was said about us. It was extremely difficult, and you miss a lot. Now it’s simply delivered to you.”
All Ears is the first media monitoring platform with complete coverage of spoken media. The company was founded to help organizations understand, monitor, and measure the growing spoken media landscape. Today, All Ears operates internationally and analyzes media in multiple languages.
According to Törner, this monitoring is essential for the theater.
“These are things we need to know. But doing it manually would be incredibly time-consuming.”
Any keyword can be monitored—from the theater’s brand name to specific productions or competitors. Monitoring happens in real time, and Dramaten is instantly notified when a mention occurs.
Reports that provide the full picture
For Lena and the Dramaten communications team, the monitoring itself is only part of the value. All Ears also provides reports that analyze sentiment, tone, reach, PR value, and engagement.
The platform combines a high-level overview with detailed analysis in one place.
Because All Ears also hosts Sweden’s largest searchable archive of spoken media, Dramaten can easily track trends over time and make better-informed decisions about future communication strategies.
Opening new doors within the cultural sector
Last year, Dramaten organized a discussion about violence against women together with Stockholm’s Women’s History Museum. This autumn, the engagement continues with the award-winning play “Ambulans,” which premiered at the theater.
Törner explains that media monitoring has been crucial in understanding how the conversation around the topic evolved—not only within Dramaten but across the entire cultural sector.
“We can see who in the cultural world has talked about it. We can identify who is interested and what they’ve said. Monitoring podcasts and radio programs in this way has significantly expanded our network.”
